Fire!
« on: June 18, 2015, 03:51:18 pm »
Evacuation taking place right now on Sky Ranch Road above Oakhurst for fire. Nothing really online yet but my son is up there working at Calvin Crest camp off that road and they are being evacuated.

From the pic he sent me it doesn't look huge and appears to be north of Sky Ranch road (6S70), East of Calvin Crest road and west of 6S47Y.

That is crushing news. Total sinking feeling whenever I hear about fires out there.

Webcam at Bass Lake Air quality looks about on par with recent years of summer in the mountains of California.

One part of the report shows 15% contained, and the writeup in the same report shows zero.

Fire on Sky Ranch and North Fork. You might be able to take Beasore out of Bass Lake but may get trapped. Def not good for soyo.

The Corrine Fire is very similar in size to the Sky Fire. It sounds like it is near Redinger but I haven't seen it on a map to be sure.

Sigh.  Still so early in the season too :(.       We camped near Granite Creek and The Balls last few days.    We were fortunate to avoid smoke for the most part.     On the drive out on Beasore this morning the road leading west from Cold Springs Junction was closed, and then on the drive back to the valley along 222 and 41 there were many fire vehicles coming up.

Here's a shot of BD in the haze that crept in on Thursday night.  10 minutes prior to this shot being taken, it was nearly perfectly clear.

Sky fire is contained but road still closed because the fire is burning under ground and popping up in spots due to doubt conditions.

Northfork fire still going and now a 3rd fire on 222 which I believe is in the oneils area.

Thanks for the updates. It sounds like they are pouncing on these fires with manpower and machines the best they can. All we can do is hope for the best and hope no one gets hurt.

So the severity of the smoke - not too bad if the wind was in your favor I guess? How long was it that smoky where you were as shown in your photo, DJ?

So relieved the firefighting efforts have been huge and successful.
