SoYo Newcomers & Irregulars
« on: February 25, 2014, 10:15:26 am »
Over the years, I've had the pleasure of dragging a fair number of mostly willing partners into the Hinterlands for some good climbing fun. I imagine many of you have done the same, despite the blank looks regarding whereabouts, and the lack of hype. I really owe these fine fellas for their positive attitude and willingness to drive a long way at odd hours for a wee bit of climbing, often on short notice.

John is always psyched, and is known to drink nuts.

Paul has a keen eye for potential.

Thomas shines on the big stage and in the backwoods.

So let's see some more less familiar faces of those you've convinced to visit this stellar home away from home, and are maybe even on their way to becoming regulars. The welcome mat is out.

I'll post some more later...

Chriz gets huge props for coming on a long "beyond the gates" excursion we went on this winter. Looking forward to seeing him back out there this spring.

I think Munge should get a ribbon for most enthusiastic addition to the Soyo regulars last year. It was only after the "full" tour did he really start freaking out.

Looking forward to spring with you guys!(Not that it doesn't feel like spring already)

When is Munge ever NOT enthusiastic?? Make him a ribbon indeed! I assume the "full" tour went beyond Shuteye, but curious what was on the complete list. (I'm now imagining a band's concert tour t-shirt with the list of all the cities on the back.)

Dan, Jerry, Davey and others certainly invite a lot of visitors as well, it seems...

Yeah, I bet he's never going back to SoYo.

Victor! Now there is someone to watch this season. He sure bagged some classics this last year.

And we are all learning how to swear in Russian too!

Here is Vic in action. I think he took a fall trying to hand drill a bolt from stance soon after this shot was taken. I believe he said something like, "ya,ya,ya,ya,ya!" as he was falling. Hella funny.

BTW I really like the term "irregulars" in the title of this thread. I feel like I fit into this category.

Yup, nice meeting Paul and Thomas, Nate.

Here is a shot of Kristin who did really well on Wanderlust.

Here too is a photo of John on left putting up Bitch Kitty, and our friend Alex in the middle on Wanderlust. Right is I believe Jeff on When Dreams Come True. At the time, this was the most people we had seen climbing there all at once.

Also, there were a couple of times Ed Hartouni joined us, once with Jaybro. Always a great time!

Some nice shots of Ed on, you guessed it, Wanderlust. What can I say this climb hits it out of the ballpark for star rating.

And on Skywalker
