Thanks for the heads up. Guess I'm not going to Dinkey Creek next weekend, after all. About par for the year.

Edit: Upon reflection I think that came out less sympathetic to the people whose homes and businesses are affected by the fire than I intended. I'm on a local fire department, and I just recently ended 11 days straight of fighting to save my town from literally burning to the ground in the CZU August Complex, so I am acutely aware of the feeling of facing losing everything you have. I ended up being one of the fortunate ones, but I know many people who were not.

Fire doubles in size since this morning and has now jumped the San Joaquin which means that entire area east of Shuteye will possible be affected.

Yes most definitely affected! We were camped and climbing at Gray and noticed fire spotted too close by on the hillside south of Minerva, and the two of us and our friends evacuated immediately. Just now made it into the clear and this is the first good cell reception we have. Knew we couldn’t go towards North Fork, as we could also see the hillside below Minarets aflame. It is a slow march out of there behind the many vacationers coming out of the woodwork to evacuate and highly recommended to get outta there with all that fuel, tree mortality, and spotting all the way from Shaver. Hope everyone makes it out safely!

Ps. Thanks for heads up and Looks Easy, what you said was totally understandable! Many Cheers to all your fire fighting efforts!

Shaver Lake fire created a thunderstorm, lightning strike off of minarets. Run for the car, PR to the car. Minarets side of shuteye likely gone.

Yes! Probably not shaver fire spotting all the way to shuteye, but it was raining burned out debris and ash all day at Gray.

Shaver fire spread to big creek, big creek fire spread cross canyon, and/or the lightening strikes contributed to the ridge fire. Just so relieved to be out of the loop road. and on otherwise yet again a spectacular day of climbing there. I think I’m in shock, the full weight of loss not able to hit all at once when feeling relived to have gotten out safely. I mean Man o man I’m going to miss the area as it was... never a bad day there not even today, except concerned for those trapped and with homes etc there.
