Hi all, today it's snowing here at Shuteye, and with the forecast snow off and on the next 5 days, it looks like after 5 years of pretty most non stop climbing in the Southern Yosemite area, Shuteye/Fresno Dome the roads will finally be blocked by snow! It's been an amazing 5 years of climbing up here with Amy and I looking for new climbs and areas that have been popping up the past 8/9 years with out or any beta, and even put up some awesome routes our selfs :-). Even with the introduction of Grahmy's Shuteye book in the summer of 2013, Shuteye is still pretty much it's sleepy old self. I am hoping not to return to the Shuteye area until the snow melts this next mid-May the way it's should be, and feel the spring of renewal and excitement of a fresh and new climbing season! As i set here at the Cool Bean coffee shop here in Oakhurst i feel soooo blessed to finally live here and be so close to my beloved Shuteye Ridge, with some mixed feelings that i will not be able to return until this spring, but knowing that the state and the forest needs the water so badly. This last summer was super fun climbing and meeting so many of you and getting to see the faces who share the passion I have of the area , and getting the chance to hang out with John and Sue, I am amazed how much they climb in the area and are here more then most of the local climbers in the area, you two are amazing with the time and energy you have for this beautiful place. I hope to get a chance to climb and meet more of the climbers next season who share the passion of this special place, happy holidays, and happy climbing Mike A.

Really nice post Mike. Great to hang out with you those times we did last season. And would if we could be locals. Glad you two are in a happy place there. All you've got to do is get a snowmobile one of these winter days?

I too have mixed emotions about getting shut out of Shuteye by snow after being spoiled by so many dry winters here, and I'm sure there will be some times we poke around again disbelieving it before next spring. Of course it's a good thing if El Nino really delivers. Would be grand if a decent snowpack develops and potentially offsets our risk for forest fires next year. 

Yeah, has been good meeting a first time and meeting up with again some seriously nice folks out there last year, however briefly - Mike A, Jeremy, Justin, Hansel, Mike, Mark, Davey, Scott, John, Soyo, Kenny, Erica, Flipflop, DonutNational, those who regularly post on this site and the many more. The Supertopo, Lunesta Fiesta among other gatherings were great draws.

Sure has been a fun season. I hate to admit it but it is kinda nice to have a normal winter and get that break from going out to Soyo that forces you to miss it so much you get the extra "kick" when we get to go back in the spring.
