Beyond Kaiser

This will be the area of Florence and Edison.

I am interested in Bear Dome and Infant Buttes a long with the huge dike ridge. Munge or Mooch, you ever make it up there? Beta?

Hiked Bear Ridge from north to south. Got a look at the Vermillion cliffs, but never done any climbing that way, though there seems to be an awful lot of rock up there.

Take a look at Mtnyoung's TR.

This area?

I think they were higher up. Bear Dome is on the ridge between Florence and Edison. About 3 miles in. Lot of rock all over that area. Bear Dome and Infant Butte to its NE looks the best.

Search Bear Dome on taco and there are a few pics.

Does anyone know if climbs have been done on Bear Dome?  I looked for any climbs in Secor's guide as well as the High Sierra guide, but could not find any.  This dome looks like it has a lot of potential.

If I recall, Bob has climbed there. I've been in the area.

Maybe you've seen 'em, but there are a couple threads on Supertopo about Bear Dome and the existing routes (several which I believe are in the Secor guide). Bob, (cragnshag) mentions his foray out there.

this is the quality of rock west of Goodale Pass out of Edison.

I don't have a pic of Vermillion cliffs, but I remember there being a lot of rock, but probably somewhat chossy.

This is past vermillion cliffs, I think.  Just off the trail going up to the PCT???

I remember the owner of the resort trying to recruit climbers to come up there to "install" new routes. An effort to bring in tourism? ;)  Roger may have some input on this since this was a hot topic around the late 90's.

I know! But I recall it pretty clearly. Maybe Tiki recalls that being discussed around the SSCA campfires.
