Wall climbing
« on: November 18, 2013, 09:03:20 am »
John is going to put a link to the topo of a route Sigrid, Lynnea and I did at Ribbon Fall in May of 2000. Yeti mentioned that he likes wall climbing so here is a topo, not SoYo but a 5 star, year around, off the beaten path route.

We had bad weather so finished on "Thin Line", the finish that Erik Sloane did is much better and is recommended. Erik also recommended to bring some bolts to beef up the raps on "Gold Wall.

"Yeti likes wall climbing"      Now that's an understatement!

I've been wanting to do that route.  Thanks Jerry.

Jerry-

I climbed the Void last winter.

Thought it was an excellent route, and very well thought out.

I have recommended it to many folks.

Which of your wall routes in soyo would you recommend?

Thanks for the fat bolts, a nice change from the standard mank encountered.

We met a few years ago at johns birthday gathering, and talked about gold wall! Hahaa!

Best,

Josh Mucci

OK Yeti, have the nickname and real name straight now. Right now the only wall route we have completed in SoYo is Walking With Walt on East Fuller. I can send you a topo and there is a photo on page 6 of the FA thread. John sent me instructions on how to post a PDF but its all incomprensible to me and I hate to ask him to do another.

We have some more V projects we hope to complete next summer. One ended when we realized it got either to or close to a peregrine nest but we want to check it out in the fall. I won't disturb and active nest and they seem to hang around even after the young have left.

Of the other two, one looks like it will be the hardest aid I've ever done and I did some hard aid years ago. We are hoping the new beaks will make it doable but we put it one the back burner to focus on an easier looking aid route. The "easier" looking one we had to give up on two years ago when an old knee injury gave out and I had to have a total replacement. Its finally healed enough I should be able to stand in aid slings next year. If anything I'm more motivated than ever to get them done after needing to put them off for so long!

Jerry-
I will happily post the PDF of Walking With Walt for you if you remove the A1 ratings from your topo. As you now know, those first two pitches you used are Narrow Gauge and will get ruined if any more pins are used.
