Title: Hawk Dome in winter
Post by: wingnut on February 19, 2016, 04:56:56 pm
Anyone know if its possible to get into Hawk Dome from the lower approach trail with the snow? I.e. Anyone know how low the snow line is on the road in?

The top of FD has snow but that side faces north. I don't think the road would be open enough to get to FD campground

its cold and clear in town oakhurst, you can see snow on fresno dome from town, have not been on skyranch rd for months, but i am sure you can not drive up there, i have been going to the valley to climb.

Thanks Mike! We went out to Chiquito last weekend for a day and it was bone dry as was Minarets so we figured there must be some dry rock elsewhere. The ridge looked really snowy still though. Maybe we will see you in the Valley.

That snow line of demarcation is pretty distinct at 6K-ish & Up. Gets ya thinking tho it looks socked in, maybe it's good to go
