I was thinking of checking out Big Sleep, does anyone know if there are there locked gates on 7S02?

Yup, still locked.

If you have a real 4wd truck I know an adventurous way to get there. Legal too. Let me know if interested.

I think 2WD will get you there but high clearance is a must or you will get high centered.

Someone rammed the 7S02 gate open this weekend, was it you wingnut? Tough Subaru you got there.

So 7S02 is unofficially open on the Rock Creek end unless the FS decides to repair the gate (doubt it).

I felt blessed to drive up to this gate Thursday night to find it busted open.  We spent 4 days all alone at big sleep.  great weather and great climbs.

Has anyone else been up to big sleep this season?  Many large and medium sized trees were cut that are on the big granite slab.  :(  A lot less shade but there will be fire wood for ages.

6ft wide?! That would be a big project with our widdo chainsaw!

We went to camp on the camp at the top of Chiquito a while back and had to cut out a big ol tree blocking the road. We were confident we would be rewarded with having the camp to ourselves. We were super surprised to find a group of people already setting up a camp up there! Turns out they had hiked all their camping gear up there from the road. What a rip off, but I suppose they "earned" the camp more than we did. They humped loads and we simply drove up in the comfort of our trucks sipping Appletinis while listening to smooth jazz.
