Anyone see Valley Uprising? Finally just saw it. Really enjoyed the movie and the extras. A very good purchase. Would love to see it with friends interested sometime.

I wonder if I could make my Surface tablet hook up to my projector, then we hang a sheet off Miwok's Volkswagen, and power the rig off the truck inverter.

Yeah, pretty cool video. Lots of photos I had never seen before like from the pot plane crash. Great stuff.
We watched the raw footage in the extras of Honnold free soloing the Phoenix and found that hard to watch.

Saw it in Encinitas with Bonnie and dah Mucci's back in November. Highlights: The Bird and his fledglings, Harding VS Robbins and that goofy guy Alex.

Watching Honnold 3rd class my 6th pitch (C1) on Scarface was pretty funny.
Fucking guy.

I'm afraid to shake his hand. He'd crush bone.

Finally going to see this at the Royal Robbins SF office tomorrow.
Trailer looks pretty overdramatic and amped, but I suppose that has become typical for movie trailers and hopefully the movie is more interesting and even-keel.

Well Nate it is a pretty "flashy" movie with constant movement, tons of animation and such, much like the trailer. They even have some well known music artists like Bob Dylan playing in it so they spent some money on production for sure.

Would be great to hear your take on it, Nate.

So did you see it, Nate? What did you think?
I could see what must have prompted the Cliff Bar response.
Also, I would hope that someday there'll be a fuller, richer history depicting Warren Harding. He's a fave climbing hero as well.

Sorry for the late response! I liked it more than I expected I would, and was surprised at the depth of the history covered about some of the key players, though they certainly had to gloss over and omit many others. But they definitely seemed to pick the most entertaining or extreme stories. Lynn Hill is still so amazingly inspiring and although her accomplishments are familiar, she was a highlight in the film for me.
Yes, Honnold is always hard to watch. Saw it with a handful of non-climber coworkers and was very curious about their reactions and if they thought it made all climbers seem like law-breaking, high, dirtbag adrenaline junkies (certainly not the climbing world I've known...or really care to know). They didn't think so, and some were actually inspired to learn more or maybe get out there sometime and give the rocks a whirl, which surprised me.
