With the Valley closed, I wonder if there will be crowds? There is much chatter about people being suddenly motivated to check it all out. Should be an indicator for days to come.
If I see more than three people I will totally freak out. For us, that would be record setting for this year.
-
Aren't you guys sick? Does that mean you are climbing?
-
Pshaw. Yes, still climbing. I'm finally on the mend.
-
Am interested to hear if there was an increase in visiting climbers...
-
I am curious too. We didn't climb on the ridge and drove in and out really late so we wouldn't know if there were crowds. The Grizzly Century bike ride was this Saturday and deer season is well under way so there were three user groups adding to the numbers.

My son's 22nd birthday is this weekend. We are planning a trip and inviting everybody. We figure we will go to Big Sleep since there is plenty of camping, easy access and a variety of climbs. He works at PG Sunnyvale and is inviting his gym buddies. I'm inviting some old fogies so I will have company too. Turnout may be low since a lot of them have school and work obligations. Show up if you want to hang with the next generation of climbers and perhaps influence them and their style.

I may be up that way.
-
Though we already planned to climb in another area this weekend, we want to make it for an evening. Will you guys be there early enough Friday? If not, we'll do our best for Saturday.
-
Probably won't get there until noo Friday as I have a work appt in the AM. Supposed to snow Wed/Thur.
-
Now the forecast is saying some of the snow tomorrow night might stick. Not being able to have a legal fire is so cruel.
-
Have you checked about fires? One would think the fire hazard has eased off.

Still ok in a campground but not otherwise until Nov 1 unless I've missed something. But, now with snow conditions? Seems like it should be ok so long as it's not windy. Maybe there'll be an update shortly.
Speaking of windy, it was terribly windy several days ago. The last time we were out there we found a giant tree fallen in the spot we had camped the weekend before.

Probably no rangers out there with the government shutdown.
-
with snow allegedly coming in today and tonight to the Sierra, but a govt shutdown in place, I suspect gates will be open to places near and far, yes?
-
I'm not worried. I wouldn't expect any trouble with gates or rangers or weather. This early snow should be gone by the weekend. Looks like blue skies ahead last I checked. Looking forward to the wkend!

Cool temps expected. Bring yo puffy jackets

Good seeing Dan & crew at Big Sleep Friday night - thank you for your hospitality. Hope you all had fun up there and didn't get too much weather.
-
The kids all had fun. I had 5 kids with me, two more of their friends showed up so we had 8. A party of two and a party of four showed up Saturday but it turned out we all had connections so we all hung together drinking beer and eating birthday cake. A couple little snow flurries on Sunday but the kids had fun bouldering anyway.

Dan-
It was great to hang out with you guys. Sounds like you grew to quite a crowd on Saturday. The weather looked like it lingered over the ridge for a good part of early Sunday?
-
Sunday morning was a bit drizzly with moments of pellet snow but the kids didn't mind and played on their boulders. It was nice of John and Susan to stop by on Friday, the kids all like you two. Some of the people on Saturday asked if I knew John and Sue, perhaps people from your gym.

That's so nice to hear Dan - and mutual! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and only wish we could have stayed or better yet joined forces. You had a lively crew there with a great vibe for sure. Glad they all got to see the view from Mile High too.
I wonder who the folks are that asked about us, but suppose we should finally drag ourselves back to the gym soon and maybe find out.
