Title: Lock Down the registration process
Post by: mungeclimber on March 07, 2013, 03:57:33 pm
As soon as any spiders get a piece of it, the spammers will start with the bogus registrations. Then they load porn in the member profiles or post porn (not all of it legal porn either)

are you going to permission the subforums to be private?

Right now unregistered users can see all the subforums.

It makes sense to have some private subforums eventually, but it is a full frontal free for all for now. Weeeeeee!

fyi, the search function returns some simplistic results when not logged in. e.g. balloon dome indicates there are several posts referencing that.  SPH forum doesn't allow searching unless logged in. Tried to find the switch to toggle it, but no deal so far.

I got the same search results logged as not logged in, but you get more functions when logged. You need to search from the home page to get results for the entire site when not logged in.

Sorry, to clarify, I was trying to find the toggle for you in the admin console in case you hadn't intended searchability.

Aha, I see. I didn't really care too much, but I turned off search for guests anyway. It would be nice if more folks signed up to see the rest of the site and its functions.

Oh, if you want climbers, I can fix that. Couple cross posts and you'll have shit loads.
