Hi all, was up at the Jones Store today, things look great there, CSS is still a huge staging city for the Fire Fighters, Central Camp Rd is like a new road, (280) LOL I think up to friend rock camp site has been redone, the SNF is still closed even Skyranch Rd to Fresno Dome closed, they said Minarets Rd may stay closed until next year? The new bridge at upper Chiquito Camp grounds (Chiquito creek) may not be finished until next year? So good news Jones Store is safe but bad news looks like SNF here in the Oakhurst area is done for the year!!! :-( I had to climbing at the Park (Yosemite Valley) the other day to get my climbing fix in!!! good news no body in the Valley climbing pretty mellow there :-) Sorry to say this but I would not make any plans to climb in the area here on the scenic by way loop for the rest of the season!!! the way they told me today up there its dome for this year :-( O well at least I still have the park, happy climbing cheers Mike A.

Yeah, Stanislaus did a closure order after the Dardanelle fire that kept a lot of the forest closed.

I keep wondering if the fires flushed out the missing rambo lady out there.

Morning all, was up at Shuteye and the Jones Store Yesterday, all roads still closed Fire over 50% containment super smokey still, they said back roads could be closed for a couple years before reopening, so that means places like Eagle Domes area, Big Sleep Area, Lost Eagle Dome Area, will not be able to drive to??? They said full
Containment maybe in 2 weeks??? Does not sound like they will open the roads until the snow blocks the roads??? Been climbing in the Park (Yosemite) the last couple weeks but super smokey there and a pain to get in with restrictions but that will be gone by Nov first!!! Well that’s all I got for how, happy climbing cheers Arechiga.

Thanks for that update, mike a. So if you are going to the Jones Store, than Beasore isn't closed at least that far, correct? Nobody allowed in the Chilkoot area as well, even though the fire didn't reach the area?
Anyone know if Tollhouse and Squarenail are off limits?

Hi, I can get a permit to go to the Jones Store because I have a cabin there, but can not go up there with out a pass, and the next time I can get a permit to go up there is Oct 22th, Chilkoot Lake area is a place where the fire is still being a problem for the Fire Fighters but most of the fire action is up by the old Lion Fire was way past the Balls area, could see the plume of smoke today from the fire at Oakhurst!!! but its been 5 days with the smoke being not bad here in Oakhurst and can see blue sky's so things are getting way better and they say 100% contain by Oct 30 so awesome news!!! still been climbing at the park only thing open here but still have too scam to get in the park, maybe Cal Dome is the best place to go climbing at this point??? happy climbing Mike A.

Sorry if this is a repost, but just was looking for a closure map...

https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd828601.pdf

They'll revise it Nov 1, but 100 percent IMO they are going to keep it closed until the fire is out and the trees along the roads are lopped.

Merry Christmas all, was up at the Jones Store Thursday (Christmas Eve) had a BBQ for lunch and had some beers in the snow, got stuck in the truck a couple times on the way home, it was a fun day up there. Been climbing a lot in the park, if you are in the park check out the right side of Five & Dime Cliff, lots of newer and fun routes there. happy climbing Mike A.

Morning, went up to Mile High Lookout and Chiquito Dome areas, what the French Fire did not burn the Creek Fire finished off the rest of the forest, burn forest as far as the eye can see!!! The road (Minarets Rd) is in great shape, saw one tree crew on the road on the way up. I saw no signs saying the road is closed. Saw one car melted on the side of the road by Rock Creek campgrounds. It was a little sad to see the forest gone but felt great to be back after 6 months. I am sure all the campsites all be closed for at least a couple years but the Jones Store is my base camp so any closers will not effect me! I am super excited that the season up there will soon open up and will not have to go to the valley to climb!!! Hoping to see all up there this season and do some climbing and have a couple beers, happy climbing Mike A.

Morning all, was up on Minarets Rd Friday, went to Mammoth Pools Reservoir and drove up to where the snow starts to block the road about 3 miles from Jackass Rock. The Chiquita Dome season has started! It felt great to climb up there once again and I do not have to go to the park (Yosemite) any more until next fall when the snow blocks the roads up there once again, happy climbing Mike A.
