That's too bad Grey Ghost - if not this year then next, hey? Tempted to say it isn't that bad for smoke, but sometimes it really has been.

I dug up the links for the snow sensors out in Soyo. Looks bad. I am seeing 26" of snow at Chilkoot Meadow.

NWS predicts high 40 and low 20 through the weekend. I say you should go. I can't make it but would look forward to hearing about your adventure.

We turned around early on Minarets due to too much snow. There was snow a little past the Redinger Lookout so we were sure it would be sketchy farther in and there would be soggy approaches if we made it. Bass Lake even had a lot of snow on road 274 which is at like 3500'. I still wouldn't say we're shut-down yet but the next one might do the job.
We ended up going to the Valley. I missed Soyo so much more after having to go there. The camping situation in and around the Valley really sucks donkey balls. It turns out I need to re-learn how to climb cracks too!

We have a little RV or camper van rented for 2 1/2 weeks. Mrs. M doesn't climb so just touring.
Spent the night here at Mt Ruapehu
Lot of sheep
Driving an RV on the left, roundabouts, etc. have been an adventure but all is going well.

Cool!
Hope you find some good meals that make lamb chops. Britain has sheep everywhere, and they really know how to do a chop.

Chilkoot Meadow weather station reports 156" of snow. If so, pretty impressive.
