Anyone recognize this route? It's another very cool one on Power Dome.

Well, the last photos were from Smegmathon. I think it's more than an ok route. I found the crux, cruxy and the whole thing an enjoyable romp for sure! Nice job putting that up Donutnational!

And Donutnational, you are right, I was wrong about that sport description which was for Hannaramic not for Powerline. Sorry about that...

To be open though, no routes have felt to me to be sport bolted on PD. Although most often the routes we've done on PD do seem to have protected cruxes, there are also definite do not fall zones on every one of the routes. Tuolomne has this sort of standard of risk going on with it as well, yet so many people head there to do routes all season long while we've only seen Donutnational & Kenny Rose, other than our own friends, on PD this summer over the course of a half dozen or so routes we've done there on PD this season. What the heck is that about? O wait, no Supertopos!?!

Thanks Susan.  I thought it might be that or the route (solar power?) which crosses it, but not confident enough to guess. The route is special to me as it was my first FA and first bolt placement.  We had eight or nine bolts, some pins and youthful enthusiasm.  I'm glad Kenny and Barry convinced me that retro bolting it was a good idea otherwise I would have never got climbed it in the 21st century.  I just wish we didn't name it while under the influence.

That's cool to hear some things about the setting of the FA! Youthful enthusiasm and drink put a nice light on the name I would say. Not all climbs can be named so beautifully as Sons of Yesterday, a fave, or Song to a Morning Star... Laughing just now recalling some of the worse names...

nice pic susan.

planning on getting out to the obelisk tomorrow for a few days, then probably a day or maybe two at courtright.

here's a couple pics from a backpack trip a couple weeks ago to Cliff Lake, Three Sisters Peak and Island Lake.

view of dogtooth from Christian Lake

view from top of Three Sisters Peak.  This is a great hike from Cliff Lake.

I will say that the bouldering is stellar at Cliff Lake, near Christian Lake and Island Lake.

Approach beta appreciated D!  Have fun. Weather looks good for it. Had hoped to get to Hoffman, but may have to wait a weekend or two.

obelisk approach is great right now.  Such a great long weekend.  Rob- feel free to email or call me if you want details.  I'll try to find time to post up pics and approach/trail information soon.  But, life is a bit hectic here in Santa Rosa.  Our house and neighborhood is OK, but we are pretty close to the two fires and it is gonna get windy tonight.

The smoke today from those fires is very thick in the East Bay, even irritating the throat and causing headaches.
Can't imagine it there.

As a few of you know, I print some t-shirts. A hobby. I have been trying to think of an iconic SOYO graphic to print but I can't come up with one. I'm trolling for ideas, images and or artwork. Gerry J is an artist and I am not so if I am lucky he has some input. I would love Eagle Beaks but it just doesn't have pop. Anyway, if anybody has ideas or graphics, I'm in.

I prefer to only print one color and no greyscale.

Some examples here:

Your website is looking streamlined and polished. I like the section "A Little About Me" very much.

Did I mention how much I like the blue color and logo of the tee shirt shown there? I nabbed one of those for myself over the red which I also quite like. Thank you very much!

That would be great if you could get some help from Gerr.

Gosh, iconic is the Eagle Beaks for sure. I think it's stunning.
To me also the Doodle as Royal Robbins called it which probably has less pop than the beaks.
Picture of it is here: http://www.southernyosemiteclimbing.com/

Also the layered rock such as the Talon which is other places as well. Y'know, more and more I like the nest of Eagles that you mention. Terrible photo here but was a quick last minute snap from last weekend:

If only I could draw, I'd make it look something more like a nest of eagles cracking open out of their eggshells and the crack caused by a Dammerr...
