Minarets Road gate

Does anyone know exactly where Minarets Road is gated? It looks fairly warm this weekend and I was thinking of venturing towards Chiquito dome

Typically I've only seen it gated by the turn off to drive down to Mammoth Pool in the winter time. Had a nice rally for my bday one year in winter.

You prolly already know, watch for morning black ice on those turns. Temps seem way cooler up at 6k and above lately.

Would be stoked to get a real conditions report, if you go for it!

Minarets Road was clear all the way past Jackass last week, but temps were icy cold with windchill. We went off road a little and immediately got stuck in just a few inches of snow. Not for too long though. We need new tires I spose. Wind was blowing so hard when we went that many more trees had fallen across Minarets after our one night stay but also were already cleared on our way to Yosemite. Chiquito seems it would have been good to go if it hadn’t been for the wind. Hope you checked it out for yourself by now and are enjoying!

Not always the tires' fault. Sometimes the terrain is just too rough. haha

True. Sure would be too tough right now I imagine... a lot of work even if lucky enough to snowmobile... gotta be a lot of downed trees and all. Of course, miss the area and looking forward to a new season soon.
