Massive rockfall in Yosemite Wednesday September 27

Just woke to the news that someone was killed and others injured yesterday from the massive rockfall around the East Buttress of El Capitain. Concerned since this is a time when many climbing friends and acquaintances head to the valley for the Facelift beginning this weekend. Hope there are no more people hurt by this.

The size of the second rock fall that happened today dwarfed the first.

This was the most incredible footage I've seen on it yet. Looks as though the rockfall made it all the way to Middle Cathedral!

I've not seen the actual footage of this until now. Man, that looks intense. That's nature for ya, sadly.

O for a sec, I thought there was another just happened when I saw your post! Whoo! Glad not.

Have to admit I'm pretty intimidated by the idea of getting back to certain spots in the Valley for having witnessed the aftermath of massive rockfall at them, though I'm sure I'll go again since these are many fave spots: El Cap base, Middle Cathedral, YinYang area, Glacier Point Apron, and the list grows on....
