Less than a mile drive and I look right at Shuteye, right now its snowy down to about 5-6,000'. Sigrid and I are going to drive up Sky Ranch Road this afternoon so I will post here again this evening. It is sunny and 35 at 8 AM at at our house, 3,300', but supposed to warm to the mid 60's today then mid 70's by Friday.

Well the news isn't that great right now. We got up Sky Ranch Road to Paradise Springs because the road was plowed that far. Beyond that there were tire tracks through 4-5" of crusty, frozen snow but with our little Subaru we turned around. Fresno Dome is still covered with snow. I sent John and Sue a picture so maybe they will post it.

We were thinking of Chiquito Dome tomorrow but beyond Mile High I would imagine the road will look about the same as Sky Ranch.

We haven't climbed at Squarenail in 2-3 years so will probably head there with both climbing gear, the Hilti and a bunch of ASCA bolts. Part of it is a popular beginner area with some pretty crappy bolts so I guess some public service as well as some cruisers.

Thanks for posting the picture John. I doubt if I will have the chance to drive any of the roads before the weekend but Friday I can at least post what the weather is and what Shuteye looks like from where we live.

As promised, what Shuteye looks like from a distance. Yesterday Sigrid and I climbed at Squarenail, a popular winter area east of Fresno and also replaced poor bolts on three routes. We came home via the old road and can look at the southern end of Shuteye and right at Fuller etc. The rock looked dry but of course can't tell what the road looks like. It was warm yesterday, high 70's forecast for today and mid 70's Saturday so I would think the weather is encouraging anyway. For anyone headed up there hope it works out! For anyone that does go out can you post road conditions for where you were on Sunday or Monday, I hope to get out there with my daughter Lynnea on Tuesday.

All I have is that all of Minarets Rd is pretty dry. Eastern Shuteye Ridge has a surprising amount of snow still sticking to it but can't comment on the road conditions there.

I am hating the time change and I can't believe it is November already. Remember, they normally lock all of the gates December 1st so there is good reason to panic!

I only see 2 for Oakhurst area. one is a dead link. The other only shows the lake.

Was there a better one for the ridge?

Some of those must have burned down.

I enjoyed watching the rainy photo of Shaver Lake last weekend. Seems a combo of that spot & Bass Lake were good check points for Soyo.
