Chiquito dome access?
« on: February 13, 2016, 03:29:03 pm »
Can this be accessed now? If so, where's the best parking access given current road conditions and how much hiking is required? We were hoping to climb there tomorrow. Have 4wd but somewhat low clearance.

I am no local, but with the snow so far this year, I'd say you'd be hard pressed this early in the season to get very far beyond Mile High Vista. Tollhouse or Squarenail are your best bet for multi-pitch sorta in the vicinity, as you may know.

Or go, post up on how far you got in, then back out to Tollhouse etc :)

Hi Propsout. Welcome to the site! I am curious what if anything would be much accessible yet too. Sorry I don't know. After a visit to Yosemite last weekend, we were tempted to check a look for ourselves since conditions were pretty spectacular there. At least as John says, they turned all of the waterfalls back on. The melt seems to be on! I know, not really something to celebrate if so since we need more snow, but, can't help myself.

Just checked the weather for this weekend which looks great but for the storm coming Wed night & Thurs. Point & click forecast on NOAA suggests Minarets gets blasted with snow. Here's a link: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.35586057128901&lat=37.31319339632837#.VsOnGOajshw

Had a lovely day climbing at Chiquito. Lots of friendly climbers from the Bay area on adjacent routes. Everything was dry, the sun was out, perfect.

Nice to meet you wingnut.  I was the one your were chatting with at the belays on the other route.

Nice to learn that was you out there Wingnut!

In this photo, it appears Sean & Vic are climbing either Sweet Liberty or the Acolyte while Wingnut and partner are climbing Cinco Nuevo is it? (Photo will right itself eventually - it appears upright in the "Photo Album for Use in Soyo Site" category.)

We climbed "Not Advertised"  followed by "Too old to be bold" -- wonderful afternoon!
