Mark your calendars. Lunesta will be at the Balls this year. Sept 13-15 during the Harvest Moon which will go full in the early hours of Saturday morning. Hope to see you all there.
Munge, this should be enough time for you to plan ahead.
-
That sounds like a great place for a Lunesta Fiesta, there's great night climb possibilities there.
-
Oh shit! Getting called out on the soyo! 8)
-
on calendar. No blockers.
-
Sounds promising. Could be a great venue!
-
Should be a good time as always. As soon as I decided on the Balls the group text went straight to the beer menu. No talk of food or which climbs........just nailing down the beer menu. Hahaha
Look forward to seeing you all again, or new faces.
-
....making it a party true to the thread subject name :)

Ger came through with a sweet design for the t-shirts. No previews but it is SWEET! Tks Ger.
Paul has been brewing and will have 30 ga. of home brew (donation) since we ran out last year at Courtright. Rocky's 9 Hop Rye IPA (10 ga), Overstoker Lite lager (10 ga), Shady Belay Brown (5 ga) and Bomber #3 Hard Cider (pomegranate 5 ga). A little something for everyone. Each one is thoroughly tested and approved by the committee.
Looking forward to seeing ya'll. Paul and I will be heading up on Thursday afternoon to ensure a good spot at Bowler, set up camp and get in some climbing. If any of you want to start the gathering early come find us. I will be bringing my blue pop up and Paul's truck is a silver tacoma with camper shell.

Going to try to make it-lars

30 gallons of beer?!!!!.... we shant be climbing well that weekend. I commend the dedication to this event by the beer testing committee.
-
Sweet Lars. Hope you do.
Tasting takes a high degree of restraint and years to perfect.
-
Sadly I won't be drinking but I'll enjoy the show. Does anyone have an XL harness my buddy could use? He used to climb many years ago but has no gear now. Thanks-lars
-
Even if not drinking you can enjoy the duck tacos on Saturday night
-
We don’t have any XL Lars. Have you found a loaner yet? If you haven’t found one yet, maybe try calling a local gym or the nearest REI to see if they rent em out?
-
Thanks susan, my buddy now says his knee is no bueno. Will be there anyway. I'm hoping I can get winched up BGS. Best-lars

Morning all, good thing the full moon party is at the balls this year, you should see the hack job the tree workers are doing on Skyranch rd, it’s ugly up there and snf put a gate at fresno dome campground:-( wow looks like a bomb went off there!
-
We are probably going set up camp Friday PM over near Piyu Dome so we can set up a range and enjoy "America's Favorite Sport". What's the buy in for Saturday Night dinner of duck tacos DaveyTree? Neither of us will be drinking, unfortunately, for medical reasons. Anything else I need to bring besides personal gear [shoes and harness]? Looking forward to this event. Best-lars
-
As far as the tacos, it's my treat. If you feel you really want to pitch in there will be a donation jar for the beer that Paul makes and you can donate there. He puts in a lot of work on the home brew.
T-shirt will probably be $15, I am still waiting to see the final cost.
-
If something goes sideways and I roll in Saturday, any thoughts on where you'll drop ropes?
Forecast is looking good...

Munge-
Sorta hoping you'd be there. Haven't seen you since Muccifest.-lars
-
Hey Lars, yeah, definitely going. Just the vagaries of work life and getting my gear and the drive time.
-
Had a great time seeing people at Lunesta Fiesta! So good to meet Lars and others who showed up. Duck tacos, beer and cider all excellent! Love the T-shirt too! Thanks so much for pulling this all together Dave! We had to slip away for the long drive home this afternoon but hope some of you are still out there making the most of the perfect climbing weather today.
-
Very much appreciated D! Lot of prep and effort!
Maybe we can rally again to grab t-shirt from you since I was lagging this morning then went exploring.
-
Morning all, want to thank Dave and Paul for doing an awesome party, great fun, great people, great climbing, cheers happy climbing Mike A.
-
Awesome gathering. Thanks so much Dave and Paul. Duck tacos were off the hook fantastic! Great connecting faces with names. Dave, could you pm me if you have an extra m/m or m/s? Sat by the fire and talked with a young man celebrating his 16th birthday. If that's our future we are looking good. Happy climbing to all-lars

Glad to see so many people show and get in on the climbing. Paul and I don't climb as much during Lunesta events since there are usually quite a few newbies that show and we usually feel responsible to show them a good time and get them in on some climbing. Got a few new climbers their first leads and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I didn't mind since I got to visit JLT (Thunder Dome) and Bowler Crag which I had not previously visited. I did get to do a solo hike and scouted a bunch of stuff. I know there were some FAs happening on several formations and a couple guys repeated 1,000' of Hangover' on Golden Toad. Justin and Kalem ran up Lone Pine Crack on BoR during the moon and Matt and Fred simul climbed their route Luscious on Golden Toad during the moon.
In talking to various climbers, Every formation and the boulders at the Balls had climbers on them at some point during the weekend.
I was stoked to be able to see many friends and, although short, get to talk with Munge again while finally meeting Lars and Roger. I need to prep the tacos stuff earlier so I have more time to visit. I think we served about 300 tacos. Got good reviews as always.
Jerry did an awesome art work for the T-shirt. It turned out great. Thanks Jerry.
Paul's beer is always a hit and we ended up getting through all 30 ga.
Jerry Anderson couldn't make it but wanted to tell everyone hello and wished he could have been there.
We had some gut busting moments this weekend not to mention at one point late Saturday night when the bottle passing started. I looked around and every other person had a bottle they were sipping and passing. Too funny. The fact that I almost fell in the fire, twice, will not be mentioned. Let me hear your funny stories.
Munge, Lars, I do have extra shirts left over. I don't use any of the payment aps or exchanges (I am low tech) but if you passing through I can meet up with you or meet you at a crag if going.
I am taking location suggestions for next years Lunesta Fiesta which I believe will fall on June 5-7. Lars suggested Dinkey Dome which would be awesome if the bridge gets fixed and the gate gets opened. There would be great fishing as well but the early time of the event might cause an issue crossing Dinkey Creek to get to the dome. I have not been to Chiquito, Is there enough climbing for our big group?
-
Wish I had taken photos of the festivities. Too busy chatting and meeting people. Also, didn't want to stick a camera in front of the faces of people newly met.
The Balls turned out to be a perfect place for the event, but also in the past I have enjoyed Fresno Dome and Courtright as well. Yes, I think Chiquito could also be a really good spot even if it is going to be hot that time of year as there are nearby places a little higher up with cool options.
-
Good job on the gathering.....good to see many folks.....Thanks for the compliment!
-
Chiquito would be a solid choice. Lots of classics on the dome with Fuller and Shuteye close enough.-lars
-
What a great weekend all, that was a fantastic event. A truly wonderful group of people I look forward to seeing again, absolutely everyone.
Dave, you really do a great job putting this together. The fact that you take a group of green climbers out to get them set up on some climbs says it all, you truly want everyone one to have a good time. I raise a glass to you, cheers!
Paul did a really great job on all of the beer, how lucky were we to have so many incredible choices?! I hope Ger follows up with making art for the labels for the bottled versions, that would be awesome.
Wish we had photos.......anyone?

Here's one..

Hah ha I suspect he was hoping for pictures of others, but I like this one. Truly great brews! Something for every palate.
-
Hahaha. That photo says it all.
Need to get one of someone pouring with their harness on. We are hoping to score a jockey box by next year which will make pouring cold beer much less of a hassle and the pounds of ice below 100.
-
What can I say, I liked the beer!
