Railroad Fire Area Closure
« on: September 16, 2017, 07:58:24 pm »
Does anyone know if the Railroad Fire Area Closure that was issued in September 12 includes all areas north of Beasore Road to the Yosemite boundary, including Fresno Dome and other climbing areas in the area?

I believe so. Your secret spot will have to wait.

I posted a map here; http://www.supertopo.com/climbers-forum/3010411/41-Forest-Closure-above-Oakhurst

Ok, the closure order states that the closure is active until the Railroad Fire has been declared out.  I went to the Forest Service office in Clovis today to ask if the Railroad Fires has been declared out.  They told me that the Railroad Fire has not been declared out, so the closure still applies.  That sucks as it has been listed as out by many agencies, but not the Forest Service.

If the agency that fights the fire says it is declared out. Then it seems prudent that you could rely on that government agency's representations since it was made public.
